Job Overview

The Process Automation Engineer will design, implement, and optimize automated systems that enhance production efficiency, product quality, and operational safety at Nestlé’s Ziguinchor facility. Key Responsibilities

  • Design, program, and commission PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems for production lines.
  • Develop and maintain automation architecture documentation, including wiring diagrams, functional specifications, and safety interlocks.
  • Collaborate with process engineers to identify bottlenecks and implement control strategies that increase throughput by up to 15%.
  • Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with IEC 61508 and local safety regulations.
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts, perform root‑cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, and Total Productive Maintenance.
  • Train operators and maintenance staff on new automation equipment and best practices.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, energy consumption, and product quality.

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in PLC programming (Siemens, Allen‑Bradley, or Schneider Electric).
  • Strong knowledge of SCADA/HMI platforms (Wonderware, Ignition, or WinCC).
  • Experience with industrial networking protocols (Profibus, Modbus, Ethernet/IP).
  • Understanding of process control theory, PID tuning, and batch automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID, electrical schematics, and mechanical drawings.
  • Problem‑solving mindset with excellent analytical and diagnostic abilities.
  • Effective communication skills in French and English.
  • Familiarity with Industry 4.0 concepts such as IoT, data analytics, and predictive maintenance.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics, or Automation Engineering.
  • Professional certifications (e.g., Siemens S7, Rockwell Automation, or Certified Automation Professional) are a plus.
