Job Overview

As a Cultural Heritage Tourism Planner, you will design and implement tourism strategies that highlight Podor’s historical significance while ensuring environmental and cultural sustainability. This role bridges cultural preservation with modern tourism demands, offering opportunities to innovate in heritage management and community engagement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage cultural tourism programs that align with UNESCO guidelines.
  • Collaborate with local artisans, historians, and community leaders to create immersive visitor experiences.
  • Design educational content for tourists, including guided tours, workshops, and digital storytelling.
  • Monitor and report on the impact of tourism activities on cultural and natural heritage sites.
  • Coordinate with international partners to secure funding for preservation projects.

Required Skills

  • Expertise in cultural tourism planning and heritage management.
  • Strong project management and cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using GIS tools for site mapping and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of sustainable tourism practices and international heritage standards.
  • Fluency in French and English, with basic Wolof language skills preferred.

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Tourism, Cultural Studies, Anthropology, or related field.
  • Master’s Degree in Heritage Management or Sustainable Tourism is an asset.

Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in cultural tourism, heritage conservation, or community-based tourism initiatives.
  • Proven track record in designing and executing tourism projects in West Africa.

Salary

2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP annually, with performance-based bonuses and benefits.
