Job Summary

Wave Mobile Money is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Legal Counsel to join its growing Senegal legal team in Dakar. This position will focus heavily on marketing law, public relations compliance, procurement contracts, corporate governance, and regulatory legal support.

The selected candidate will collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure legal compliance, reduce business risks, and support operational growth through practical and strategic legal guidance.

Key Job Responsibilities

Marketing & Public Relations Legal Support

• Provide legal guidance to marketing and payment growth teams during promotional campaigns and product launches.
• Ensure all advertising, promotions, and public communication materials comply with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Review legal risks associated with branding, media campaigns, and public-facing communication.
• Advise stakeholders on compliance requirements related to marketing and public relations.

Contract Drafting & Procurement

• Draft, negotiate, and review supplier agreements and procurement-related legal contracts.
• Review contracts related to vendors, service providers, partnerships, and marketing agencies.
• Ensure all agreements align with company objectives, legal frameworks, and internal policies.
• Identify contractual risks and recommend mitigation strategies.

Corporate Governance & Compliance

• Support preparation and coordination of board meetings and shareholder meetings.
• Assist with governance documentation, resolutions, and compliance filings.
• Ensure corporate activities remain compliant with local and international legal standards.
• Provide proactive legal risk assessments to leadership teams.

Regulatory & Business Legal Advisory

• Provide clear and practical legal advice to operational and functional teams.
• Support legal compliance in financial services, digital payments, and mobile money operations.
• Monitor regulatory developments affecting fintech and banking sectors.
• Escalate legal blockers or risks to senior legal leadership where necessary.

Education Requirements

Candidates applying for this position should possess:

• Master’s Degree in Law (LL.M or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Specialization in Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Financial Law, Banking Law, or Regulatory Compliance will be considered an advantage.
