Job Overview
The Mining Operations Supervisor will oversee daily mining activities at the Falémé site, ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining the highest safety and environmental standards. Reporting to the Mine Manager, the supervisor will coordinate with engineering, maintenance, and logistics teams to optimize workflow, manage resources, and implement continuous improvement initiatives. Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate all underground and open‑pit mining operations to achieve production goals.
- Monitor compliance with health, safety, and environmental regulations, conducting regular audits and risk assessments.
- Lead daily shift briefings, ensuring clear communication of targets, safety protocols, and operational changes.
- Collaborate with maintenance teams to schedule equipment servicing, minimizing unplanned downtime.
- Analyze production data, generate performance reports, and recommend process improvements.
- Manage workforce scheduling, training, and performance evaluations for mining staff.
- Ensure accurate documentation of mining activities, including ore grades, extraction volumes, and incident reports.
- Foster strong relationships with local authorities and community stakeholders to support responsible mining initiatives.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and team‑management abilities with a focus on safety culture.
- Proficiency in mining software such as MineSight or Surpac.
- Excellent problem‑solving and decision‑making skills under pressure.
- Effective communication in French and English, both written and verbal.
- Ability to interpret geological data and translate it into operational plans.
- Knowledge of Senegalese mining regulations and environmental standards.
Education
A Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering, Geological Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH) or project management (e.g., PMP) are considered an advantage.
Experience
Minimum of five years of progressive experience in mining operations, with at least two years in a supervisory or lead role. Experience in West African mining environments is highly desirable.
Salary
The compensation package ranges from 1,500,000 to 2,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications. The package includes performance‑based bonuses and allowances.
