Job Overview

The Solar Project Engineer will lead the planning, design, and execution of utility‑scale solar installations throughout Senegal, with a primary focus on projects in the Saint‑Louis region. Reporting to the Regional Engineering Manager, you will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, including procurement, construction, and regulatory affairs, to ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the highest technical standards. Your responsibilities will encompass feasibility studies, site assessments, system design, performance modeling, and coordination with local authorities for permitting. The role also involves overseeing contractor performance, conducting quality assurance inspections, and ensuring compliance with international safety and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive site assessments, including solar irradiance analysis, topographical surveys, and grid interconnection studies.
• Develop detailed engineering designs, single‑line diagrams, and layout plans using industry‑standard software such as PVSyst and AutoCAD.
• Prepare technical specifications, tender documents, and evaluate bids from EPC contractors and equipment suppliers.
• Coordinate with local authorities, utility companies, and community stakeholders to secure permits and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Monitor project progress, manage schedules, and control budgets to achieve milestones and cost targets.
• Lead on‑site commissioning activities, performance testing, and handover documentation.
• Implement quality assurance and health‑safety protocols throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide technical support for operation and maintenance teams to optimize plant performance post‑commissioning.

Required Skills

• Strong knowledge of photovoltaic system design, grid integration, and energy storage solutions.
• Proficiency in engineering software (PVSyst, PV*SOL, AutoCAD, MS Project).
• Excellent project management abilities with a track record of delivering complex engineering projects.
• Effective communication and negotiation skills for stakeholder engagement.
• Fluency in French and English; knowledge of local languages is a plus.
• Ability to work independently and lead multidisciplinary teams in a fast‑paced environment.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Renewable Energy Engineering, or a closely related discipline is required. A Master’s degree or professional certifications such as PMP, PE, or NABCEP are highly desirable and will be considered an advantage during the selection process.

Experience

Minimum of five (5) years of hands‑on experience in solar PV project engineering, including design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of utility‑scale solar farms. Prior experience working in West Africa or similar emerging markets is preferred.

Salary
