Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Sustainable Tourism Development Manager to lead our initiatives in Mboro, Senegal. This role is pivotal in designing, implementing, and managing tourism projects that align with our commitment to sustainability and community empowerment. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in tourism management, sustainable development, and stakeholder engagement, with a passion for creating meaningful travel experiences that benefit both visitors and host communities.

The Sustainable Tourism Development Manager will oversee the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualization and planning to execution and evaluation. This includes conducting feasibility studies, developing business plans, securing partnerships, and monitoring impact. The role requires a strategic thinker with excellent project management skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to work effectively in diverse environments. Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement sustainable tourism strategies and action plans for the Mboro region.
  • Identify and engage with local communities, government bodies, and private sector partners to foster collaboration.
  • Design community-based tourism initiatives that create economic opportunities while preserving cultural and natural heritage.
  • Conduct market research and feasibility studies to assess tourism potential and identify growth opportunities.
  • Manage project budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure successful delivery of tourism development programs.
  • Monitor and evaluate the social, economic, and environmental impact of tourism projects.
  • Provide training and capacity building for local stakeholders in tourism management and hospitality.
  • Promote sustainable tourism practices among tour operators, accommodations, and other tourism businesses.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders, highlighting progress and outcomes.
  • Stay updated on global trends and best practices in sustainable tourism and integrate them into local initiatives.

Experience

Minimum of 5-8 years of experience in tourism development, sustainable development, or community project management, preferably in a similar context. Experience working in Senegal or West Africa is highly desirable.
