Job Overview
The Sustainable Agriculture Program Director will lead Olam’s strategic initiatives to improve crop yields, promote climate‑smart farming, and strengthen value‑chain integration in the Kédougou region. This role is pivotal in driving Olam’s mission to create inclusive, resilient agricultural systems while supporting the livelihoods of smallholder farmers. Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainable agriculture strategy aligned with Olam’s global objectives and local market needs.
- Lead cross‑functional teams to implement climate‑smart practices, soil health programs, and water‑efficiency projects.
- Manage relationships with farmer cooperatives, government bodies, and development partners to secure funding and technical support.
- Oversee monitoring and evaluation frameworks to measure impact on yields, farmer income, and environmental outcomes.
- Prepare and present regular reports to senior leadership, highlighting progress, challenges, and recommendations.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations, international standards, and Olam’s sustainability policies.
Required Skills
- Strong leadership and project management abilities with a track record of delivering large‑scale agricultural programs.
- Deep knowledge of sustainable farming techniques, agronomy, and climate‑resilient practices.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills.
- Proficiency in data analysis, impact assessment, and reporting tools.
- Fluent in French and English; knowledge of local languages is an advantage.
- Ability to travel frequently across rural areas and remote sites.
Education
A Master’s degree in Agronomy, Agricultural Economics, Sustainable Development, or a related discipline is required. Advanced certifications in project management (PMP) or sustainability (LEED, GRI) are highly desirable.
Experience
Minimum of ten years of progressive experience in agricultural program design and implementation, preferably within West Africa. Prior experience managing multi‑million SSP budgets and leading multidisciplinary teams is essential.
Salary
The position offers a competitive salary range of 2,500,000 to 3,500,000 SSP per month, commensurate with experience and qualifications, along with performance‑based incentives.
