Job Overview
This role leads restoration projects for Senegal’s coastal and marine ecosystems, including mangrove rehabilitation, coral reef restoration, and seagrass meadow recovery. The position requires technical expertise in ecological restoration methodologies, project management, and stakeholder engagement. Candidates will work directly with local fishing cooperatives, government agencies, and international donors to implement science-based conservation solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement marine ecosystem restoration projects in collaboration with local stakeholders
- Conduct ecological assessments to identify priority restoration sites
- Monitor and evaluate restoration project outcomes using GIS and remote sensing tools
- Develop community engagement programs to promote sustainable resource use
- Prepare technical reports for donors and government partners
- Coordinate with research institutions for data collection and analysis
Required Skills
- Proven experience in marine ecosystem restoration projects
- Strong knowledge of West African coastal ecosystems
- Proficiency in GIS software (ArcGIS, QGIS) and data analysis tools
- Excellent project management and budgeting skills
- Bilingual proficiency in French and English
- Ability to work in remote coastal environments
Education
Master’s degree in Marine Biology, Environmental Science, or related field
