Job Overview

The International Freight Forwarding Supervisor will lead a team of forwarders responsible for managing import and export shipments, ensuring compliance with Senegalese customs regulations, and optimizing routing to reduce costs and transit times. Key Responsibilities

• Oversee daily freight forwarding activities, including booking, documentation, and cargo tracking for both imports and exports.
• Ensure all shipments comply with local and international customs regulations, minimizing delays and penalties.
• Develop and maintain strong relationships with shipping lines, airlines, trucking firms, and customs authorities.
• Analyze shipment data to identify cost‑saving opportunities and improve transit times.
• Lead, mentor, and evaluate a team of forwarders, fostering a culture of accountability and professional growth.
• Coordinate with sales and customer service teams to provide accurate shipment status updates and resolve client issues promptly.
• Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) such as on‑time delivery, documentation accuracy, and customer satisfaction.
• Prepare regular reports for senior management on operational performance and market trends.

Required Skills

• In‑depth knowledge of Senegalese customs procedures and international trade regulations.
• Proficiency with freight management software (e.g., CargoWise, SAP TM) and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Strong analytical abilities to interpret logistics data and drive efficiency.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills in French and English.
• Leadership experience with a track record of managing high‑performing teams.
• Problem‑solving mindset with the ability to handle unexpected disruptions.

Education

A Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, International Trade, or a related discipline is required. Professional certifications such as FIATA, IATA, or a Certified International Trade Professional (CITP) designation are considered an advantage.

Experience

Applicants must have a minimum of five years of progressive experience in freight forwarding, customs brokerage, or related logistics functions, with at least two years in a supervisory or team‑lead role. Experience working within the West African market, particularly Senegal, is highly desirable.

Salary
