Job Overview
As a Disaster Risk Management Specialist, you will spearhead initiatives to assess, mitigate, and respond to climate-induced and natural disaster risks in Rosso’s coastal and rural communities. This role integrates technical expertise with stakeholder collaboration to build long-term resilience across Senegal’s most vulnerable regions.

Key Responsibilities
- Conduct hazard vulnerability assessments for coastal erosion, flooding, and drought in Rosso’s districts
- Design and implement community-based disaster risk reduction (CBDRR) programs
- Coordinate with local authorities, NGOs, and international partners on early warning systems
- Develop training modules for emergency response teams and community volunteers
- Monitor climate data and produce risk mitigation reports for government stakeholders
Required Skills
- Proven experience in disaster risk management or climate adaptation projects
- Expertise in GIS mapping for hazard modeling and spatial analysis
- Strong project management skills with a track record in multi-stakeholder coordination
- Fluency in French and Wolof preferred
- Certification in ISO 22301 (Business Continuity Management) or similar
Education
- Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Disaster Risk Management, or Public Policy
- Certifications in Climate Resilience Planning or Emergency Management
Experience
- 3-5 years in disaster risk management, climate adaptation, or related fields
- Previous work in West African environmental projects strongly preferred
Salary
2,500,000 – 3,500,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience
