Job Overview
We are seeking a Digital Art Conservation Specialist to join our team in Touba, Senegal. This role focuses on the digital preservation and conservation of artistic and cultural heritage using cutting-edge technologies. The ideal candidate will combine expertise in art conservation with digital skills to create high-fidelity digital representations of cultural artifacts while ensuring their long-term preservation.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement digital conservation strategies for various types of cultural artifacts and artworks
- Utilize high-resolution scanning and photogrammetry techniques to create detailed digital representations
- Collaborate with local cultural institutions to identify and prioritize conservation needs
- Develop metadata standards and preservation protocols for digital cultural assets
- Train local staff and partners in digital conservation techniques and best practices
- Monitor and maintain the condition of digital preservation equipment and software
- Research and implement emerging technologies for cultural heritage preservation
- Document conservation processes and maintain detailed records of all digital preservation activities
- Ensure compliance with international standards for digital preservation and cultural heritage protection
Required Skills
- Expert knowledge of digital imaging technologies and preservation techniques
- Strong understanding of art conservation principles and ethical considerations
- Proficiency with photogrammetry, 3D scanning, and high-resolution imaging equipment
- Experience with digital asset management systems and preservation metadata standards

Education
Master’s degree in Digital Humanities, Art Conservation, Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience. Additional certifications in digital preservation, museum studies, or related fields are highly valued. Continuous learning and professional development in emerging digital conservation technologies are essential for success in this role.
Experience
Minimum 5 years of experience in digital conservation, museum technology, or related field. Experience working with cultural institutions and diverse artistic media is required. Previous experience in international cultural heritage projects and familiarity with Senegalese cultural context will be considered strong advantages.
