Job Overview

As a Water Resource Planning Specialist, you will lead the design and implementation of integrated water resource management systems in coastal and inland regions of Senegal. This role requires collaboration with local communities, government agencies, and international partners to ensure sustainable water distribution, flood mitigation, and ecosystem preservation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive water resource management plans for urban and rural areas
  • Conduct hydrological modeling and climate impact assessments
  • Design flood control and drought mitigation infrastructure
  • Coordinate with municipal authorities for water distribution optimization
  • Monitor water quality and ecosystem health indicators
  • Prepare technical reports and stakeholder presentations

Required Skills

  • Proficiency in GIS and water modeling software (HEC-HMS, SWAT)
  • Strong analytical skills for climate data interpretation
  • Experience with international water management standards
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and negotiation abilities
  • Fluency in French and English

Education

  • Master’s Degree in Environmental Science, Water Resource Management, or related field
  • Certification in Climate Resilience Planning (optional but preferred)

Experience

  • 3-5 years in water resource planning or environmental engineering
  • Previous experience in West African water management projects

Salary

3,000,000 – 4,500,000 SSP per annum, commensurate with experience.
