Job Overview

BPS Personal GmbH is seeking a highly analytical and experienced Senior Policy Analyst to join its Africa team. The successful candidate will monitor and analyze policy, regulatory, political, and economic developments across African markets and provide strategic insights that support investment, development finance, and policy decision-making.

This opportunity is ideal for professionals with experience in international development, economic policy, government relations, or financial institutions operating in Africa.

Key Responsibilities

Policy Assessment & Analysis

  • Monitor legislative, regulatory, and political developments across African countries
  • Analyze impacts on investment climates, trade, infrastructure, and development finance
  • Interpret political and economic trends affecting regional growth and policy outcomes

Research & Reporting

  • Prepare policy briefs and detailed analytical reports
  • Conduct research on:
    • Public financial management
    • Infrastructure financing
    • Digital economy regulations
    • Energy transition policies
  • Deliver actionable intelligence for stakeholders and decision-makers

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build relationships with government institutions, private sector leaders, and civil society organizations
  • Leverage networks to gather strategic insights and policy information
  • Support collaborative engagement across multiple sectors

Advisory Support

  • Provide policy advice for project development and investment decisions
  • Support risk assessment and strategic planning initiatives
  • Assist stakeholders in navigating regulatory and political environments

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in:
    • Policy analysis
    • Government relations
    • Economic research
  • Experience working with international economic or financial institutions operating in Africa such as:
    • World Bank Group
    • International Monetary Fund (IMF)
    • USAID
    • African Development Bank (AfDB)
    • Development Finance Institutions (DFIs)
  • Strong understanding of political economy and policy landscapes in African regions including:
    • East Africa
    • West Africa
    • Southern Africa
  • Experience living or working within Africa preferred
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • French language proficiency is an added advantage
